Airline reveals Olympics campaign

Executives in marketing jobs may be inspired by the newest strategy being employed by a national airline in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

British Airways has finally unveiled its Games’ marketing campaign, which boasts that cabin crew will serve enough tea in 2012 to fill three Olympic-sized swimming pools.

The main thrust of the advert, which will premiere on Facebook on Thursday (February 9th) at 11am, sees an English girl race her luggage against international competitors in an effort to reach the arrivals hall first.

After its debut on the social networking site, it will go on to air on Google+ before hitting TV screens that same evening during the interval for ITV’s Coronation Street.

The campaign takes a slightly personable approach, featuring staff members in the advert, and will run with the tagline, “2012. We’re ready. To fly. To serve.”

As part of its Valentines leveraging strategy, BA has invited couples to bid in a charity auction for a romantic dinner on board a Manchester-based Concorde this February 14th.
